BIO

Cast of Thousands is a San Francisco-based post-hardcore/indie rock trio whose combination of melody and dark imagery has earned it a growing following through robust recordings and intense live performances.

The band uses dynamic rhythms and boy-girl vocal harmonies to accentuate their hard-yet-melodic style. During performances, they churn out a combination of hooks, volume, and intensity.

Cast of Thousands has opened for popular national acts such as Smoking Popes, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Karate, and The City On Film and performed at esteemed Bay Area venues including San Francisco's Great American Music Hall, Slim's, Red Devil Lounge, Cafe Du Nord, and Bottom Of The Hill.

Shortly after the release of their first full-length album, This Is Where I Confess, in 2007, Cast of Thousands was chosen as one of the Top 5 Local Bands in modern rock radio station Live 105's annual Not So Silent Night contest. A music video for the lead track, "Wicked Smile" was shot and directed by independent film-maker Bernard Badion in 2009.

Cast of Thousands' recently released follow up album, Applied Mythology, has received critical acclaim from both local and national press. Lead track "Bundle Of Sticks" is the latest of the band's songs to receive airplay on commercial and college radio.

Guest musicians are an important part of both Cast of Thousands' recordings and live performances. Guest performers have included: Brian Glover (of Parker Street Cinema, piano), Ken Mahru (of Parker Street Cinema, percussion, melodica, vocals), Anton Patzner (of Judgement Day, violin and viola), Tin Fan (of The Ant Show, violin), and most recently, a live 3-piece string section: Cindy Liang (cello), Peter Ahn (viola), and Sharon Park (violin).
